‘I thought that maybe being memory foam they wouldn’t contain much dust but boy was I wrong,’ she captioned the social media post. 

‘I didn’t realise that the velour cover that encases the mattress could hold so much dust!’ 

Michelle admitted the mattress likely hadn’t been cleaned in ‘a couple years’, but the mattress protector is washed regularly. 

‘I am still shocked at the results, however I will sleep better tonight after seeing what came out!’ she said.

Other mums flooded the comments with disbelief and seemed eager to buy the device themselves. 

‘EEK! This is so gross!My mattress is only two years old but I have to admit, I’d never thought about cleaning your mattress until [now],’ one woman wrote.

‘Thank you for posting, I am going to get one [vacuum] just for my bed,’ another wrote. 

The popular product is currently on sale and retails for $49 down from $69, with alternatives on the market costing $199 from Kogan. 

It’s believed the UV light kills unwanted bacteria when cleaning around the house.

And this isn’t the first time a customer has reviewed the new vacuum and shared it with thousands online.

A shared on Instagram shocked more than half a million people online who seemed eager to buy the product after watching the clip.

‘I had no idea how much dust was on my mattress until I tried this,’ Carolina captioned the video.

The shocking video has since been viewed more than 608,000 times and received over 18,500 ‘likes’. 

Another Melbourne woman also used the Kmart product to clean her bed and remove the dust hidden in plain sight.  

TikToker ‘Hi Pearl Tea’ got more than she bargained when she took the UV handheld vacuum cleaner to her one-year-old Koala mattress for the first time in a year.   

She was stunned by the amount of dust suctioned up into the appliance from her seemingly spotless bed.
